Happy Birthday

June 16, Saturday

Happy birthday to me and Michael June! I started my day with a prayer at midnight with Gab who was teasing me that I might cry because I miss my family (which never happened, I guess I finally learned to deal with homesickness). Then, I slept and woke up in the morning quite unprepared for the recitation in law. I was hoping I'd be spared because it was my special day but I was not.

The morning dragged on. I ate lunch with my classmates who prepared a little something for me (GPP tradition). Then I went back to my boarding house and took a nap.

At 5:30 PM, I went to church. I appreciated that my YFC brothers and sisters joined Michael and I in going to church to thank God for the gift of life.

What I learned from the priest's homily:

Make good use of your time.

Be patient. Slow down.

Appreciate the simplest blessings.

Allow God to work in His own time. A huge majestic tree does not grow from a seed overnight. Instead, any one who plants a seed sleeps and rises each day without knowing how the seed would grow into the majestic tree that it will become.
